April 28 – Serving The Homeless

Freedom To Dance will be serving and dancing this Sunday, April 28 at BreakThrough Church in St Paul.  

Several of you have signed up to help us serve the homeless this night.  This church is a very special church because it is specifically geared towards helping the homeless.   There are still some spots left to sign up if you have not done so and can help out in various ways.  
*This is not just for the dancers to sign up, but parents, siblings, other family, friends, and more to participate with you in serving.
Our dancers will be dancing during the worship service of church.  Service goes from 5:00-6:15 pm.
What to wear:  Black or purple dance tshirt and jeans and/or pants.  We are being casual to fit in better with our environment.
Practice:  We will be running through the songs a couple of times at 5:30pm
Thanks!  Hope you can attend!  This is a great opportunity to serve as a family!

Dance Practice Cancel – April 18 – Due to Weather

We are cancelling this evenings dance practice due to road conditions.  We’ve had a couple of parents call in and express concerns with the roads and further accumulations anticipated later.  We want everyone to be safe.

Hope to see everyone next week for the only mob dance practice.

May 2 – National Day of Prayer – Heart of the City Message

Dear Heart of the City Friends,

Once again this year, Heart of the City will have the  privilege of leading worship on the Minnesota State Capital  steps on the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May  2nd.  The program will go from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM and this year,  at noon, after we’ve led worship for a 1/2 hour, we’re going to kick off the  main program with a large group of worship dancers from the ministry, “Freedom to Dance”, dancing to our song  “Resurrection Chant“.  If you are interested in  being a part of this dance, they would love to have you join them! They  have a YouTube video showing the simple steps they’ve put together and they  are holding a couple of rehearsals as well.  If you are a  home-schooling family, this would be a great activity for your whole homeschool  co-op or just your family to be a part of!   Here’s the  information you need below:

National Day of Prayer Flash Mob Dance – May 2 12:00 pm – Resurrection Chant

flashmobdanceJoin us on Thursday, May 2 for a 12:00 pm Flash Mob.  Learn the dance online or at practice:

When:  Thursday May 2 12:00 pm, Arrive by: 11:00am if you would like to practice.  We are running the song through twice before 11:30 worship starts.

Where:  St Paul, State Capitol Grounds.  We will be gathering on the front lawn, just below the main entrance of the Capitol across the street.  You can’t miss it.  The band will be setting up there.

What to wear:  Street clothes

Parts to Learn:  Choose the dance portion you wish to learn:  dance or streamer.  Learn by videos below.  (No more practices are remaining).  The streamers will be positioned on the outside of the mob dancers.  Mob dancers should fill in the grassy area.

What to do:  After solo part of the song, run out onto lawn area of MN State Capitol grounds.  Streamers should stay to the outside perimeters and dancers fill the grass area facing the capitol.

Dance Practice on April 11 added

We now have practice on April 11.  The group that originally had the room book cancelled, so we now can practice in the gym.  Praise God!   See you all on Thurs.

Upcoming Events & Remaining Practices (April – May 2013)

Hello Dancers,
We have a couple of big events coming up very soon:  April 28 & May 2   We are very hopeful that many can make it to each of these events.
April 28 – Breakthrough Church – dancing at service – 5:00 pm – Hopefully you’ve signed up to arrive early to help.  If you cannot arrive early to help, then we will be meeting to practice briefly at 4:30 pm.  Dress in all black – black pants & plain black shirt.  We will provide coverings.
The song list is still in limbo, but these are potentials and so we are reviewing them on Thurs:  (Kids) I Will Follow,  Our God, I Am Free, (Teens & Adults) Great & Glorious

We are in need of 4 committed volunteers to use the billows to make a cross at the end of the song.  You must be able to be at our practices to be able to work with your partners to get it down.  Please let me know ASAP if you can be one of these 4.

We will be off for the summer for normal dance.  We may be helping with VBS at Hosanna! and if so, we will be communicating additional practice times later.
FALL SPACE 2013 –  We are seeking space for next season’s dance practices.  We love Good Shepherd; however, their school starts basketball practice in late fall and we will then be unable to utilize their gym, so we are seeking a gym-sized space for the entire 2013-2014 season if possible.  If you have any leads at churches, please contact the responsible pastor and if a possibility exists, then we can do a follow up with him or her.  Thanks!

MORE HELP NEEDED!  SPOTS STILL OPEN!

We’ve got an amazing opportunity to serve!

Sign up to help out BreakThrough Ministries by providing meals for the homeless, as well as participate in serving, cleaning, greeting, praying, etc.  There are many options available.

Freedom To Dance will be taking care of the entire April 28 evening as we’ve already committed to serving for the night.  We are counting on our parents and dancers to fill the needs of the day.  Please consider which option you and/or your dancer would like to help with.  We can definitely have more than what is required.

We will also be dancing this evening at worship service.  Praise God!  What a gift to be able to share with the church!

You may also invite neighbors, friends, or family members to attend with us.

Every Sunday Breakthrough Ministries reaches out to the homeless in St. Paul. They conduct outreach events during the day and have a Church service and free meal for the homeless and surrounding community each Sunday evening.

Revelation 4 – God’s Throne Room Drawing

revelation-drawingLast night, the Alleluia & Joy Dancers drew their rendition of the throne room of God from Revelation 4 with God on His throne, with the 24 elders surrounding the throne, dressed in white gowns & crowned with crowns, and the 4 living beasts singing “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, is, and is to come.”

MOA Flash Mob Cancel on March 30

MOA did not approve the request for worship/dance on March 30.  We are still working on an alternate, but at this time nothing is scheduled for Easter weekend.

We are approved for Thurs, May 2 at 12:00 at the St Capitol grounds for National Day of Prayer – “Resurrection Chant”.  So, keep learning the song online and more info to follow on this.
